Serena Jampel hails from Newton, Massachusetts and is a proud alumna of Cabot House (Semper Cor!). She graduated summa cum laude in History and Literature with a secondary in Folklore and Mythology. Her senior thesis examined the story of Hannah Duston, a 17th century housewife-turned-murderer whose legacy reveals the intimacies and materialities of American historical narratives. While at Harvard, she also researched the culture of Jewish diaspora, photography of West African art, and 19th century New England. Serena is immensely grateful to the undergraduate grants and opportunities that allowed her to conduct research in Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Argentina, and Canada. She was awarded the John Clive Prize, the Selma and Lewis Weinstein Prize, the Winthrop Sargent Prize and the Thomas Temple Hoopes Prize for her work.   
  
Beyond academics, Serena devoted time to writing and community-building on campus. She worked at the Writing Center and wrote articles for The Crimson and Harvard Magazine. She also performed improv comedy with On Thin Ice and led camping trips with the First Year Outdoor Program. Serena loves reading, swimming in freezing water, and making pottery. At Cambridge, she will pursue an MPhil in Heritage Studies as the Lionel de Jersey Harvard Scholar at Emmanuel College.
